Tip #596

Make it easy for your friends to install Vivaldi on iOS.

If your friend has still not made the switch to Vivaldi on their iPhone or iPad, you can help your buddy out by sharing the App Store link with him, so all they’ll have to do is open the link and tap Install. To make sharing easier for you, we’ve added a quick share option in the main Vivaldi menu.

To share Vivaldi:

  1. Open the Vivaldi menu and scroll to the bottom.
  2. Tap on “Share Vivaldi”.
  3. Select how you want to share the App Store link.
  4. Follow the app’s guidelines.

It’s a win-win situation. Your friend will be forever indebted to you for recommending the best browser out there and you’ll be helping us, so we can continue doing even more cool stuff at Vivaldi.

Tip #591

Enable Pop-Out Video in Vivaldi on iOS to check other apps while watching a video.

Pop Out Video, aka Picture-in-Picture, is a popular feature on desktop, but did you know it’s also available on mobile? The main difference is that, on your mobile device, you can’t browse other tabs in Vivaldi while Pop Out Video is enabled, but you can use most other apps.

To enable pop-out video on iOS:

  1. While browsing with Vivaldi, find a video you want to watch.
  2. Press play and enable full-screen view of the video.
  3. Go to your phone’s home screen.

The video will continue playing in a small rectangle on your home screen. You can move the video by dragging it around and use the two-finger zoom gesture to change the size of the video. Tap on the rectangle to see video controls.

Tip #586

Option 2

  2. Toggle on “Display Top Sites”.

To create a Home Screen shortcut:

  1. Open the web page you want to add to the Home Screen.
  2. Go to the Vivaldi menu > Share.
  3. Select “Add to Home Screen”.

Tip #573

To sync or not to sync? You decide what browsing data is synchronized across all your devices.

Bookmarks, Tabs, Passwords, Notes, History, etc. – you can easily access all of it and more in Vivaldi on all your devices when you use the Sync feature. But, whether you sync all data or just some of it, is up to you.

To sync selected data:

  1. Go to Settings > Sync.
  2. Log in to your account and enter the encryption password.
  3. Go to “Sync Selected Data”
  4. Toggle on and off the data types you want to Sync.
  5. Click “Apply Changes”.
  6. Do the same on all devices.

Tip #570

Add links from other apps on your mobile directly to Vivaldi’s Reading List.

Did you come across an interesting article you’d like to save for later, but it’s not open in Vivaldi? There’s an easy way you can add it to Vivaldi’s Reading List without needing to open the link in Vivaldi first.

To add a link to the Reading List:

  1. Locate the share feature in the app.
  2. Find Vivaldi from the suggested apps list and tap on it.
  3. Select “Add to Reading List”

In some cases, the suggestion list includes two separate Vivaldi entries, one for opening the link in the browser and the other for adding to the Reading List.

Tip #567

Turn to Vivaldi Help on your iPhone and iPad to learn about the browser.

You might be wondering about a feature in Vivaldi on your Apple device, trying to figure out how to configure the app to your liking, or, in the unfortunate event, trying to troubleshoot an issue. Vivaldi Help, with its growing selection of articles, is here to help.

To quickly open Vivaldi Help, use one of the following methods:

  • Open the main  Vivaldi menu, scroll to the end, and select Help.
  • Open the bookmarked link from the Bookmarks Panel.
  • Type “help.vivaldi.com/ios” in the Address Field.

Check out Tip #2 to see how to best get to Vivaldi Help on desktop and Tip #297 for Android.

Tip #557

Always know where you are by enabling full address display in Vivaldi on iOS.

By default, the Address Field only displays the domain you’re on (e.g. vivaldi.com) and you have to tap on the Address Field to see the full URL (e.g. https://vivaldi.com/blog/ios).

To see the full URL at all times:

  1. Go to Vivaldi menu button Vivaldi menu > Settings > Address Bar.
  2. Toggle on Show Full Address.
Two phones. One showing Address Bar settings page, the other a web page with the full URL visible in the Address Field.

Tip #554

Save web pages for later by adding them to the Reading List in Vivaldi on iOS.

Vivaldi’s Reading List feature lets you save web pages with, for example, interesting articles in a list you can access from Vivaldi on all your devices with the help of Sync. Using the Reading List prevents endless tabs from accumulating on your Tab Bar and Bookmarks from being filled with entries you only need once.

To add the active tab to the Reading List.

  1. Open the  Vivaldi menu.
  2. Tap on “Add to Reading List”.

To add a link on a web page to the Reading List:

  1. Long press on the link to open the context menu.
  2. Select “Add to Reading List”.

You can open and manage pages in the Reading list from the  Vivaldi menu > Reading List.

To open a recently closed tab in the active tab:

  1. Open the  Vivaldi menu and select “Recent tabs”.
  2. Tap on the link you want to reopen.

  1. Open the Vivaldi menu and select “Zoom text…”.
  2. Tap on the + and – buttons to adjust the zoom level.

Tip #532
