Tip #511

June 19, 2024June 19, 2024 — Posted inCommunity Services, Vivaldi Tips — 1 min read

Make sure to be logged in to your Vivaldi account while making a donation to get the badge of appreciation.

There are many ways our community is helping Vivaldi grow – by promoting Vivaldi to potential new users, testing or translating the products and web pages, helping other users with their questions, and more. But we’ve also made it possible to support Vivaldi by making a donation, either a one-time donation or a recurring monthly donation.

When you’re logged out, you can make a one-time anonymous donation, but when you’re logged in you can show off that you believe in our mission and have made a donation.

To get the badge of appreciation:

  1. Log in to your account on vivaldi.net.
  2. Go to the donation page at http://vivaldi.com/donate/.
  3. Make the donation.
  4. Head over to your profile or one of the Vivaldi services to view your new badge.

Tip #480

May 2, 2024May 2, 2024 — Posted inCalendar, Community Services, Mail, Vivaldi Tips — 1 min read

Log in to your Vivaldi account from mail and calendar clients using an app password.

If you’ve enabled Two-Factor Authentication for your Vivaldi account, then you need to use an app password when adding your account to mail and calendar clients, such as Vivaldi Mail and Vivaldi Calendar.

To generate an app password:

  1. Log in to your Vivaldi account on Vivaldi.net and go to the profile.
  2. Go to the Two-Factor Authentication management page and verify your identity with the login password.
  3. If you have at least one 2FA method set up, you’ll see an option to create App Passwords, go to that page.
  4. Select the type of app (mail, calendar, or both) you want to create the password for.
  5. Give it a name, so you’ll recognize which apps and clients you’ve generated passwords for.
  6. Copy the password, enter it on the login page of the client, and store the password in a safe location as this is the only time the password will be shown to you.

Tip #470

Add your Vivaldi account to the Vivaldi Calendar.

Did you know that in addition to the built-in Calendar client, Vivaldi also offers an online calendar service bundled with Vivaldi Webmail*? You can use it with Vivaldi Calendar and add it to other calendar clients and apps that support CalDAV.

To add your Vivaldi account to Vivaldi Calendar:

  1. Go to Settings > Calendar > Calendar Accounts.
  2. Click on + “Add Account”.
  3. Select Vivaldi.net.
  4. Give the calendar a name.
  5. Enter your account’s email address.
  6. Enter your account’s login password or the app password, if you have Two-Factor Authentication enabled.
  7. Once logged in, select which calendars you want to sync or hide.
  8. Finish by clicking “Save Account”.

To add your Vivaldi account to other clients and apps, follow their instructions and check out this Help page for more information.

*New accounts first need to build up reputation to use Vivaldi Webmail and the calendar. More info.

Tip #465

April 10, 2024November 26, 2024 — Posted inCommunity Services, Vivaldi Tips — 1 min read

Make sure you have at least two Two-Factor Authentication methods enabled for your Vivaldi Account.

Two-Factor Authentication is a great way to ensure the safety of your Vivaldi account. See how to set it up in Tip #270. But should you, for one reason or another, not be able to use the chosen verification method, you risk permanently losing access to your account. That’s why it’s important to have a backup verification method set up as well.

Available verification methods for your Vivaldi account:

  • Authenticator app
  • Security key
  • Recovery codes

Review your authentication settings on https://login.vivaldi.net/profile/me.

Tip #270

May 5, 2023March 20, 2024 — Posted inCommunity Services, Vivaldi Tips — 1 min read

Secure your Vivaldi account by enabling Two-Factor Authentication.

Two locked doors make it harder to get in than one. Similarly, requiring two different verification methods during login make your account a lot more secure. First you verify yourself with your login password and then either with a code that a special app generates for you or with a physical security key.

To enable Two-Factor Authentication:

  1. Go to Vivaldi.net.
  2. Log in to your Vivaldi account.
  3. In quick links at the top of the homepage near your profile image, click on Account.
  4. On the account’s profile, click on Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  5. Enter your account’s login password to continue.
  6. Select whether you want to set up Two-Factor Authentication with an authenticator app or security key and follow the instructions.

It’s strongly encouraged to set up at least two Two-Factor Authentication methods. That way, if you’re unable to use one verification method, you’ll still be able to access the account using a backup method.

Check out our Help page about Two-Factor Authentication for more information.

Tip #5

April 26, 2022March 20, 2024 — Posted inCommunity Services, Vivaldi Tips — 1 min read

Keep your Vivaldi account’s recovery email up to date.

Normally, forgetting a login password is no big deal. You can just reset it. But what if you no longer have access to the account’s recovery email and the all important email with a link to set a new password can’t reach you? Then restoring access to your account becomes a hassle that could’ve been easily avoided.

In addition, you might miss other important emails from us. Such as announcements about upcoming maintenance work when using our services might temporarily not be possible, or about updates to the Privacy Policy and the like.

To review your Vivaldi account information, including the recovery email:

  1. Go to Vivaldi.net.
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. In the top right corner of the page, click on your username/avatar and select Profile.
  4. On the profile update the recovery email, if needed.

You’ll find step-by-step instructions for updating the account’s recovery email and other account info on Vivaldi Help.

PS! While you’re at it, check the recovery email of your other online accounts, especially those you created a long time ago.
